The single girder gantry crane has one main girder, carried by two legs that run on ground rails, and an electric hoist that travels along the girder. It lifts 5–32 t over spans of 7.5–28.5 m, at heights of 6–18 m, and the capacity, span and height are made to order. The structure is simple, quick to install and works equally well indoors and outdoors.
It comes in three versions. The standard rail-mounted version is used in factories, warehouses and freight yards. The rubber tyred version needs no rails, moves freely around the yard and lifts 10–500 t over spans of 7.5–31.5 m, at 6–30 m. The semi-gantry version has a single leg, while the other end of the girder runs on the building's runway, which frees the space along the wall, for 5–20 t over 8–30 m.

The crane legs run on two parallel rails set in the floor or in the yard concrete, and the main girder spans the working area. The electric hoist travels on the girder flanges and lifts the load by wire rope from the ground to the required height. The crane is operated by radio remote or pendant, with three motions: crane travel on the rails, hoist travel along the girder and lifting. In the rubber tyred version, the legs stand on their own powered wheels and the crane can move anywhere in the yard.
A single girder makes the crane lighter, so foundations and rails are simpler than for a double girder crane of the same span.
It installs quickly and works indoors or outdoors, with no runway beams on the building columns.
Three-layer corrosion protection keeps the structure outdoors for years with infrequent repainting.
The semi-gantry version uses the building wall as a support and leaves the aisle next to the wall free.
It is used in precast concrete plants, steel coil stockyards, glass factories, sawmills, freight yards and for loading rail wagons and trucks. The rubber tyred version serves yards without rails or areas that change often, and the semi-gantry version serves buildings where part of the floor must stay free.
Start from the heaviest load and the span, the distance between the rails. Up to 32 t, the single girder gantry crane is the lightest solution. Above 32 t or for intensive use, choose the double girder gantry crane. If rails cannot be installed or the crane has to move between areas, choose the rubber tyred version. If the crane works next to a building with a runway, the semi-gantry takes up less space.
