The double girder gantry crane has two main girders, and the winch trolley runs on rails on top of them. This lets it lift far heavier loads than a single girder crane: 10–500 t over spans of 18–35 m, at heights of 6–18 m, with an A3–A7 working class for intensive work. It makes good use of the yard, since it spans entire stacks, and needs less infrastructure than a building with an overhead crane.
It comes in three versions. The standard version runs on rails and works in storage yards, factories and construction sites. The rubber tyred version lifts 10–800 t over spans of 7.5–31.5 m, at 6–30 m, without rails. The container version, rated 41 or 45 t, has a spreader and works in ports, container terminals and intermodal stations. Popular models are 20, 32, 50 and 60 t, plus twin-trolley 32 + 32 t cranes for long pipes and sections.

The two main girders rest on rigid legs, and the legs run on ground rails, with motors on each side. The winch trolley travels along the girders, so the hook drops between them and the load stays centred. The PLC and frequency inverter system tracks the load in real time and damps sway on its own, so the operator works faster and more safely. For long pipes and sections, two trolleys are fitted and work in sync.
It lifts up to 500 t on rails and up to 800 t on tyres, with a working class up to A7, for shift work.
The PLC anti-sway system shortens the lifting cycle by up to 30% compared with a crane without sway control.
Electric, hydraulic or diesel power is chosen to suit the site, so the crane also works on sites without mains power.
Optional monitoring, with fault alerts on the wireless remote, helps prevent stoppages.
It is used in precast concrete plants, steel mills and pipe and coil stockyards, machine building plants, injection mold handling, logistics stations for containers, wood processing plants and underground construction, where cranes with a high lifting height remove spoil from tunnel shafts.
Move to the double girder crane when the load exceeds 32 t, when the span is large or when the crane works often. Then choose the version: rail-mounted for a fixed yard, rubber tyred if the crane moves between areas or foundations cannot be built, with a spreader if you handle containers. For long pipes and sections, ask for two trolleys. For low buildings there is also a low-headroom version with a 360° rotating hook.
