The ZY-SW series steel wire separator is the equipment for secondary granulation and mechanical separation of steel wire from the rubber blocks produced by the primary shredding of used tyres — with a system of mobile and fixed blades made of materials with high rigidity and wear resistance, available in four sizes: ZY-SW 600 (30 kW, 300 kg/h), ZY-SW 800 (55 kW, 600 kg/h), ZY-SW 1000 (75 kW, 1.000–1.200 kg/h) and ZY-SW 1200 (132 kW, 1.500–1.800 kg/h).

The ZY-SW steel wire separator is the second stage in the complete tyre recycling line: it receives the 3–8 cm pieces from the ZY-DT primary shredder and delivers fine rubber granules and separated steel wire for independent recovery.

The ZY-SW steel wire separator simultaneously performs two essential functions in the tyre recycling line: it reduces the size of the 3–8 cm rubber pieces to fine granules of a few millimetres for end use in sports surfaces, asphalt and insulation materials, and it mechanically separates the steel wire from the tyre reinforcement from the rubber granules — the steel wire representing 10–15% of the tyre weight and recoverable separately as scrap metal at the price of the metallic raw material. The ZY-SW Steel Wire Separator in the Complete Tyre Recycling Line

The ZY-SW steel wire separator is the second stage of a four-stage industrial flow for the complete recycling of used tyres:

• Stage 1 — The ZY-DT whole tyre shredder (separate equipment) — the whole tyre is fragmented into 3–8 cm pieces; the rubber, the steel wire and the textile fibre remain mixed in the same pieces at the output of stage 1.

• Stage 2 — The ZY-SW steel wire separator (this equipment) — the 3–8 cm pieces are finely granulated through the mobile and fixed blade system, and the steel wire is mechanically separated from the rubber granules; at the output: rubber granules with residual textile fibre on one stream and steel wire on the second stream.

• Stage 3 — Magnetic separator (separate equipment) — any residual steel wire in the rubber granules is extracted through magnetic separation to obtain rubber granules without metallic contamination.

• Stage 4 — Air separator (separate equipment) — the textile fibre (nylon or polyester cord) is separated from the rubber granules by an air stream; the final product is pure granulated rubber ready for recovery in industry.

Sizing the ZY-SW Steel Wire Separator in Relation to the ZY-DT Primary Shredder

The ZY-SW steel wire separator must be sized in accordance with the capacity of the ZY-DT primary shredder in order to avoid flow imbalances in the recycling line:
