Future Energy Group:
how a 3-person workshop learned to weld in 2 hours.

A premium photovoltaic-system installer from Bucharest. Three employees, none with welding experience, no welder to hire. They needed to produce aluminium cable-management cages in-house, at the quality they deliver to clients. The solution wasn't hiring a specialist, but choosing a technology that doesn't require years of experience.

Three people, premium quality to deliver, and a chronic shortage of skilled welders on the Bucharest market.

Future Energy Group installs premium photovoltaic systems for private clients in the Bucharest area. As they raised their internal standard, they identified a category of detail that distinguishes a premium installation from an ordinary one — the aluminium cages for cable management, executed to a visible standard at the end of the works.

The conventional solution would have been hiring a skilled welder. Two practical problems. A financial one: the gross cost of an experienced welder in Bucharest is around €2,500 a month, taxes included, and for an occasional volume below a full workload the structure wasn't justified. A market one: the shortage of skilled welders on the Romanian market is chronic, and the average recruitment time for a competent specialist exceeds two months.

FEG looked for a third option — a technology that would eliminate dependence on a hard-to-find specialist. They discovered that 3-in-1 laser machines offer exactly that: the learning curve drops from years to hours, because the technology simplifies most of the variables a classic welder masters over time. Distance, angle, speed, arc power — most are automated by the controller. The operator learns only the focusing technique.

The entrepreneurial calculation on top: their presence in that industrial area, combined with the new premium welding capability, opened an additional revenue channel — services for area neighbours, once it gained traction.

03 / How we came to talk · honest
A

They researched on their own and called decisively

FEG didn't wait to be prospected. They did active research on Google for technical solutions, evaluated the offers they saw, and called when they identified what they were looking for. The conversation with the UZINEX CEO started technical, with no commercial filters — the working style of an entrepreneur who knows what they want.

B

They asked for a physical trial on their material

A capital decision in a 3-person team is made on results, not on demos. FEG naturally asked for a validation on their real work. We delivered a showroom machine on loan during the import period. They paid for their own machine before it landed — exactly how we do serious business.

C

We configure to last, not to break

Our technical policy: we configure equipment to be as reliable as possible, even if that means fewer interventions and fewer spare parts sold in the long run. For clients who don't have time to deal with faulty machines, that is the only policy that matters.

The physical-trial loan policy we applied here has become our standard for laser welding machines. Not for everything we sell, but specifically for this category where the technology deserves to be tested in the client's workshop.

  1. 01
    Initial call

Future Energy Group, the first to move in their area

Future Energy Group are premium photovoltaic-system installers from Bucharest, also present as an electrical-equipment store in their industrial area. As they raised their delivery standard, they identified a strategic opportunity their neighbours still couldn't see — the ability to make aluminium cable-management cages in their own workshop. They researched solutions, discovered our Google ad for industrial laser machines and called the UZINEX CEO directly.

  2. 02
    The decision

A machine on loan from the showroom, validated on their materials

We sized the need technically: a 2,000W 3-in-1 laser, MAX source, SUP23T gun, with three applications in the same machine — welding, cleaning and cutting. The FEG team did the natural due diligence of serious entrepreneurs and asked for a trial on their real materials. We delivered a showroom machine on loan during the air-freight import period, with no proforma invoice, no advance. A clear agreement: trial it at your place, validate it on real work, and if it solves the problem, pay for your own machine before it lands from import.

  3. 03
    Internal trial

The owner mastered the technology in 2 hours

This is where the FEG team's character shows. Although none of the three people had welded professionally before, the owner approached the technology with an engineer's seriousness. In two hours of structured trial he went from the first attempt to premium-quality beads on aluminium — the adoption speed you see in entrepreneurs who really understand what they're doing. They immediately started producing cable cages for current projects, and the payment for their own machine was made before it landed from import.

  4. 04
    Own-equipment delivery

Air freight, cargo pick-up, on-site installation

FEG's own machine landed in Bucharest with a small delay on the import leg. We picked it up from cargo with our own transport, took it to their premises and carried out the installation together with the training, all in two hours.

  5. 05
    Commissioning

Our gap on consumables, corrected in 20 minutes

FEG was proactive and procured filler wire in advance from a local supplier — exactly the behaviour of a serious client preparing for commissioning day. That wire, however, was below spec in hardness for the machine's feeder. We identified and corrected it in 20 minutes, but the lesson was ours, not theirs. Since then, every laser machine we deliver includes the pre-validated initial wire set from our warehouse.

Lessons & challenges

What didn't work the first time
and what we changed in our process.

No project is delivered "everything perfect the first time". Here's what didn't work at FEG and what process changes stayed with us after this project.

Lesson 1 / 3

The air freight was a little late, the showroom loan covered the gap

FEG's own machine hit a small delay on the import leg. Because we had previously delivered the showroom machine on loan, FEG didn't lose a single production day. The lesson: for laser welding machines, pre-payment loan delivery is a practice we've extended as a standard of our sales. FEG was the first case where we applied it, and it confirmed its value.

Lesson 2 / 3

Our gap on consumables, not the client's

FEG was proactive and procured filler wire from a local supplier before installation. The correct behaviour of a serious client. That wire, however, was below spec in hardness for the machine's feeder. The lesson was ours: we should have delivered the validated consumables together with the machine. Since then, every laser machine's package includes the pre-validated initial wire set from our warehouse.

Lesson 3 / 3

Agile entrepreneurs buy on results, not on documentation

FEG cut short the commercial-presentation part and asked directly for a validation on their materials. A business lesson for us: with entrepreneurs who are actively building something and who protect their time, a PDF spec sheet doesn't sell as well as a physical trial in their workshop. Since then we offer a trial loan for all laser welding machines, and the conversion rate and long-term satisfaction have risen visibly.

11 / Frequently asked questions · 3-in-1 laser welding

How long does it take to learn to weld with a 3-in-1 laser machine, with no prior experience?

+

For premium-quality beads on aluminium, steel and stainless steel, the typical learning curve is about two hours of structured trial. The Future Energy Group owner learned in exactly that time, with no prior welding experience. Laser technology eliminates most of the variables a welder learns over years of practice — distance, angle, speed, arc power — leaving the operator only the focusing technique.

How much does a 3-in-1 laser welding machine equivalent to the one delivered at Future Energy Group cost today?

+

A 2,000W laser machine with a 3-in-1 function (welding, cleaning, cutting), a MAX source and an SUP23T-equivalent gun is available today from €5,500 + VAT. Future Energy Group paid about €11,000 in 2024 for the same type of configuration — the market's evolution has effectively doubled the technology's accessibility.

Does the machine solve the shortage of skilled welders on the Romanian market?

+

Directly. The average monthly cost of employing a skilled welder in Bucharest is around €2,500 gross, taxes included, and the market has a chronic shortage of qualified staff. The 3-in-1 laser machine lets anyone on your team, in a few hours of trial, produce premium beads without years of practice. For an occasional volume, the payback through salary avoided is under three months at the current price.

Can I trial the machine in my workshop, on my materials, before I decide?

+

Yes. For laser welding machines we introduced, after the Future Energy Group experience, the pre-payment loan policy. We deliver a showroom machine to your workshop, with no proforma invoice and no advance. You trial the technology on your real work, and payment is made only if you decide to buy.

What other applications does the machine have, besides welding?

+

Three functions in a single machine: premium welding on aluminium, stainless steel and steel; laser cleaning as an alternative to sandblasting (no chemicals, no dust); and precise cutting for adjusting components on site. At Future Energy Group, the owner uses all three functions on PV installation projects — for aluminium cages, cleaning rust off metal profiles, and fine adjustments in the field.

What is the warranty and what service do I get after delivery?

+

A standard UZINEX warranty of 60 months for all laser welding machines, with intervention within 24 hours in the event of a defect. At Future Energy Group, the first year saw a single service visit, to replace protective lenses worn through normal use. No technical defect reported.
