After the ribs are welded, every deck plate comes out distorted: the plate tilts, the ribs rotate, and the distance between them no longer matches the drawing. A U-rib straightening machine brings the panel back to its dimensions before erection, without flame heating and without hours of manual work. LAZIRON UJZ is a multi-roller hydraulic machine dedicated to plates with U-shaped ribs used in steel bridges. It corrects the distortions and curvatures that appear during fabrication, so that the parts meet exactly the dimensions required for precise assembly of the sections.
In the deck plate production flow, UJZ comes after rib assembly and after internal and external welding, that is, exactly at the point where the distortions appear. It replaces manual straightening with a press, hammer or flame, which depends almost entirely on the experience of a skilled worker. • Mechanical correction over several rollers: the plate is straightened mechanically by a set of rollers in a continuous process, and operating time is shorter than with point-by-point straightening.
• Two distortions in a single pass: the plate's tilt distortion is corrected at the same time as the angular distortion. The result is better rib perpendicularity and greater accuracy of the spacing between ribs.
• Numerically set force: the applied force (pressure) is set numerically, according to the plate specification. Operation no longer depends on a worker with years of straightening experience.

Welding the ribs to the base plate puts heat into only one face of the plate, and on cooling the seams shrink. Two main effects appear: the plate tilts transversely, and the ribs rotate away from the vertical. Without correction, the panel no longer matches its neighbour when the bridge section is assembled, and the deviations add up from one panel to the next.
UJZ handles both distortions in the same pass. The rollers act on the plate and on the ribs, and the hydraulic force is set numerically according to the panel's thickness and configuration. This improves rib perpendicularity and the accuracy of the spacing between ribs, which are exactly the dimensions checked at panel acceptance.
Because force parameters are saved as numerical values, the same panel type is straightened the same way on every pass, regardless of shift or operator. For a plant that supplies deck plates in series, repeatability matters as much as precision.
The machine also has a reserved MES interface, designed for a digital factory setup. You can start with UJZ as a standalone station and connect it to the production tracking system when you digitalize the line, without changes to the machine.
Once connected, the factory system can store for each panel the setting it was straightened with and the shift in which it was processed. For a bridge project with strict acceptance of every section, this kind of traceability shortens discussions with the site supervisor and the testing laboratory.

The machine's main purpose is producing U-rib deck plates for steel bridges: road and rail bridges with a steel superstructure, overpasses and viaducts. Every steel bridge of this type has a deck made of several stiffened panels, and each panel must be brought to its dimensions before erection. A dedicated U-rib straightening machine makes this operation predictable and takes it off the project's critical path.

1. The welded panel, with the U-ribs on the base plate, is brought to the machine and fed between the rollers.
2. The operator selects the plate specification, and the straightening force (hydraulic pressure) is set numerically for that specification.
3. The multiple rollers correct the plate mechanically, and the tilt distortion is straightened in the same pass as the angular distortion of the ribs.
4. Rib perpendicularity and the spacing between ribs are checked, and if needed, the panel makes another pass with the same setting.
5. The straightened panel moves on to the assembly of bridge sections, and production data can be sent through the MES interface.
