A horizontal H-beam assembly machine handles the stage that decides the quality of a welded beam: correct positioning of the web relative to the flanges before welding. LAZIRON WZL places the components in a horizontal position, aligns them and fixes them, so the beam goes into welding exactly to dimension. It handles flanges of 140–800 mm, webs of 350–1500 mm and parts of 5–15 m, in steels up to Q355, and is aimed at heavy structural steel plants, shipyards and metal fabrication producers.
Without a dedicated machine, assembly is done on a table, with fixtures, wedges, squares and repeated adjustments, and every beam depends on the fitter's hand. The WZL replaces this work: the control system aligns the parts, the robust construction keeps them stable, and manual adjustments almost disappear. It sits between strip cutting of the plate and fillet welding, followed by flange straightening. It is part of the range of H-beam and box girder fabrication machines.
• Optimised horizontal alignment: the machine is designed for assembly in a horizontal position, with precise positioning of the web and flanges and high dimensional accuracy of the beam.
• Shorter preparation time: horizontal assembly simplifies the process, reduces preparation and setup time and shortens the production cycle.
• Fast part transport: the transport speed of 8700 mm/min moves the beam through the machine without waiting between stages.
• Wide range of sizes: flanges of 140–800 mm with thicknesses of 8–40 mm, webs of 350–1500 mm with thicknesses of 6–40 mm, on the same machine.
• Long parts, up to 15 m: the part length of 5000–15000 mm covers the columns and main beams of halls and industrial structures.
• Solid construction for heavy parts: the machine is made of durable materials, handles heavy H-beams and keeps its stability and reliability in demanding industrial use.
• Fewer manual adjustments: the control system makes the process smooth and consistent, so quality no longer depends on the experience of each fitter.
• Adjustable welding speed: 150–1500 mm/min, according to part size and the quality requirements of the project.
For a structural shop, these advantages translate into beams that go into welding correctly aligned, distort less and reach erection without corrections. The gain shows at assembly and at every stage after it.
The reason is simple: assembly deviations are amplified during welding. An offset web or a wrong angle between flange and web makes welding pull the beam unevenly, and the correction then costs time at straightening or, in the worst case, leads to scrap. A beam aligned correctly from the start welds symmetrically and passes quickly through the following stages. That is why, in many plants, assembly is the stage where an investment in automation pays back fastest.

Part material up to Q355 covers the structural steels commonly used in steel structures. The machine dimensions, 35 m × 10 m × 4 m, must be taken into account when planning the hall: we agree together before delivery on the location, the feed routes for flanges and webs and the beam outfeed area.
The WZL is a core machine for producing quality H-beams with reliable structural strength. In construction, the welded steel beam is the main element of industrial and logistics steel halls, platforms, multi-storey buildings and support structures for machinery. When a rolled H-beam does not exist in the size from the calculation, a beam welded from plate is the solution, and precise assembly is the condition for it to perform as designed.
In shipbuilding, welded beams appear in the structure of ships and deck equipment, where dimensional accuracy matters when erecting blocks. In heavy steel structure fabrication (overhead cranes, energy structures, machine frames), the same horizontal H-beam assembly machine delivers repeatable beams, with thick flanges of up to 40 mm.
For plants that subcontract for builders in Western Europe, where dimensions and weld quality are strictly checked at acceptance, uniformity from one beam to the next is a concrete argument. The same steel beam, produced dozens of times in a project, has to come out identical, and that cannot be guaranteed with manual assembly.
Metal fabrication shops working on varied projects gain flexibility: a new beam size means adjusting the machine, not building a new assembly fixture by hand. The machine is delivered with CE-certified components and with the documentation required by the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. After welding, the flanges are corrected on the WYJ hydraulic straightening machine.
With assembly in a horizontal position, the beam components are placed and aligned more easily, and setup for a new size takes less time. For plants that often change sizes between projects, this is a practical advantage: fewer hours lost on preparation and a shorter production cycle.
The horizontal position also helps with heavy parts. A long beam of up to 15 m, with thick flanges, sits stably on the machine along its whole length, which makes alignment safer and protects the operators. For comparison, if your production has many beams with very wide flanges or very tall webs, we also have the ZL automatic assembly machine, for webs of up to 2000 mm. We help you choose the right option based on your parts.
1. The web and flanges, cut from plate to the width in the project, are loaded onto the machine.
2. The components are placed in a horizontal position, and the control system aligns the web relative to the flanges.
3. The parts are fixed in the correct position so they do not move until tacking.
4. The machine tacks by welding, at an adjustable speed of 150–1500 mm/min, while the beam advances.
5. The assembled beam is transported at up to 8700 mm/min to the outfeed and goes on to fillet welding and then to straightening.
The operator supervises the process and checks the parts, instead of adjusting each flange by hand. Training is included at commissioning, given by our local team, in your language, directly on the beams from your production.
Because the program and settings are repeated identically, long series come out uniform, and an order repeated a few months later is resumed without setting up from scratch. This means quoting is based on a known production rate, not on estimates.

Six technology directions we integrate turnkey: from plug & play IIoT sensors, to cobots, predictive maintenance, optical inspection, MES connectivity and custom industrial software.
See in real time how much each machine produces and how long it sits idle. We fit sensors on any equipment, new or old, and within a few hours you have the OEE dashboard on your phone. No complex wiring, no production downtime. The first concrete step toward digitalization, with ROI visible from the very first month.
Solve your labor shortage without tripling your costs. The cobot works safely alongside your people (palletizing, feeding the CNC, welding) while you recover the investment in 12-18 months. Prices 30-40% below European distributors, with installation and programming included from us.
Stop waiting for things to break. Our algorithms analyze sensor data and tell you exactly which part will fail and when, and we bring it to your production line before the breakdown. Zero unplanned downtime, zero contractual penalties, complete operational peace of mind.
Eliminate defects before they reach the customer. Our cameras inspect every part at speeds no operator can match, detecting sub-millimeter defects. They mount onto your existing line, with no modifications. Ideal if you produce for export and have strict quality clauses.
Connect your machines to your office, regardless of brand or age. Our gateway automatically translates the data from any machine into your ERP's format: no manual entry, no paper forms, no human error. The manager sees production live, the operator receives digital instructions.
