A sheet and profile laser cutting machine answers a situation common in structural steel companies: the sheet for end plates, stiffeners and gussets is cut on one machine, the beams on another, and the holes and markings are done by hand at a third station. LAZIRON LMJG is a gantry-type laser cutting machine with a 20 kW source that processes both steel sheet and H-beams, I-beams and U profiles on the same equipment. Cutting, hole cutting, engraving and marking are all done with a single machine.
In the production flow, the LMJG sits right after the raw material store and feeds the assembly and welding area directly. It replaces a separate sheet cutting machine, the saw for profiles and part of the manual drilling and marking out, with a single gantry and a single program. The robust gantry structure keeps the machine stable on large parts, and the intuitive control system allows quick changeover from one order to the next. See also the other machines in the beam cutting and drilling category.
The machine comes in two versions. Both use the same 20 kW fibre laser, the same cutting thickness of 1–30 mm with piercing, the same ±45° bevelling and the same cutting accuracy of 0.05 mm.
The advantages below start from what actually changes in the hall when the same machine cuts both sheet and beams:
• A single investment for sheet and profiles: the machine is multifunctional, economical and practical. Instead of two separate machines, with two dedicated areas, two service contracts and two operators trained differently, you have a single gantry that covers both families of parts.
• ±45° bevelling on sheet too: steel sheet can be cut with a bevel, the same as profiles. End plates and gussets come out with the weld preparation ready, without grinding and without a separate chamfering operation.
• Cutting, holes, engraving and marking on the same machine: bolt holes and identification marks are made in the same pass as the cutting, so you no longer depend on manual marking out and later drilling.
• Cutting accuracy of 0.05 mm: plates and beams fit together at assembly without adjustments. When the holes in the end plate and those in the beam flange come from the same program, the bolted joint closes without reaming on site.
• Long parts, such as webs and flanges for welded beams, are cut in one piece.
• Two stations for profiles: on the LMJG-1500, while one station cuts, the other is being loaded. Loading time for heavy beams no longer stops the laser, which shows directly in output per shift.
• Complex contours, minimal losses: the 20 kW laser produces clean, precise cuts and handles complicated shapes well. Material is used with minimal losses, and parts need little finishing.
• Intuitive control, quick changeover: the control system and the flexibility of the machine support high productivity even when batches are small and orders change often.
What changes in the hall
In a classic structural steel shop, a beam with an end plate goes through at least four pairs of hands: sheet cutting, profile cutting, marking out and drilling, then marking for erection. Every transfer means handling with the overhead crane, waiting time between stations and another chance for a wrong dimension. A sheet and profile laser cutting machine shortens this route to a single station.
The effect also shows in planning. When the sheet and profiles for the same assembly come out of the same place, on the same day, welders no longer wait for a plate left behind at another machine. Work-in-progress stock between stations drops, and order tracking becomes simpler for the production manager, because there is a single work queue.

LMJG-1500 or LMJG-3010: how to choose
If your production is dominated by beams and profiles, and you receive sheet already cut or cut it on another machine, the LMJG-1500 with two workstations gives you the highest throughput on profiles. If you want to bring both sheet laser cutting and profiles in-house, the LMJG-3010 covers both on a single station. The difference also shows in floor space: 33 m × 7.8 m for the LMJG-1500, compared with 19 m × 7.8 m × 4.5 m for the LMJG-3010. We recommend the version once we have seen your list of parts.
It is also worth considering how production will grow over the coming years. A shop that buys pre-cut sheet from third parties today can start with the LMJG-1500 for profiles, but if the volume of plates and gussets is already large, the LMJG-3010 pays back faster, because it eliminates two external flows at once. We discuss these scenarios with you before the quote, based on the real parts you produce.
The machine was developed specifically for structural steel companies. An industrial hall, a logistics warehouse or a steel-frame building means, besides the beams, hundreds of end plates, stiffeners, gussets and brackets. With a sheet and profile laser cutting machine, all these parts come out of the same place, with holes and markings, ready for assembly. For builders working to tight deadlines, this means a single production queue to track, not three.
The same combination of sheet laser cutting and profile processing serves the automotive industry, where repeatability across series matters, and the aerospace industry, where precision and cut cleanliness are mandatory. H-beams, I-beams, U profiles and other profiles, plus steel sheet, are cut with the same 20 kW fibre laser source, on thicknesses of 1–30 mm. For shops that currently do CNC plasma or oxy-fuel cutting on thick sheet, the laser brings cleaner edges and holes that no longer need reworking.
The machine uses CE-certified components, in line with the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. If your beam volume is very large and you want a line dedicated exclusively to profiles, compare it with the XHJG H-beam laser cutting line, which works with webs of up to 1250 mm.
For laser cutting service providers, that is, shops that cut to order for others, a machine that accepts both 3 × 12 m sheet and profiles widens the range of orders you can take on. Customers who today send sheet to one supplier and beams to another can get everything from you, with the same tolerances and a single delivery date.
For structural steel suppliers involved in industrial hall projects, logistics parks or factory extensions, the ability to deliver plates and beams together, already drilled and marked, is a concrete argument with the general contractor. Erection on site goes faster when every part has its marking and its holes in the right place.
The workflow on a sheet and profile laser cutting machine is the same whether the part is a sheet or a beam, only the clamping method changes:
1. Preparing the program: the part contours, holes, bevels and marking texts are loaded into the control system, and changeover for the new order is quick.
2. Cutting: the 20 kW fibre laser pierces and cuts thicknesses of 1–30 mm, following the programmed contour, including complex shapes.
3. Bevelling: where the part needs a weld preparation, the head tilts up to ±45°, on both sheet and profiles.
4. Holes, engraving and marking: in the same pass, the machine makes the holes and marks the part for identification at assembly.
5. Unloading and reloading: on the LMJG-1500, with two stations, the next profile is prepared while the first one is being cut.
Operator training, included at commissioning, covers this whole cycle, from loading the program to unloading the marked parts, so your team can produce on its own from the very first orders. Saved programs let you repeat a recurring order without a new setup, and the result stays the same no matter who is working the shift.
