An 8-axis CNC pipe cutting machine solves one of the most time-consuming operations in pipe shops: intersections. LAZIRON XF8 cuts round, square and rectangular steel pipes, with end cuts, joints, intersection holes and weld bevels, using plasma or an oxy-fuel flame. It works with round pipes of 60–630 mm or 60–800 mm and square pipes of 80–400 mm or 100–500 mm, on lengths of 6–12 m. It is designed for pressure vessels, pipelines, shipbuilding, steel structures and the petrochemical industry.
The difference from conventional cutting is that the operator does not need to program. They enter the pipe radius, the intersection angle and the other parameters, and the machine automatically cuts the penetration holes and the weld preparations. The accuracy is good enough that manual grinding is no longer needed. In the flow, the XF8 replaces template marking, manual torch cutting and grinding, and files come directly from Tekla or CAD, with no extra unfolding. See also the other machines in the CNC large pipe cutting category.
Anyone who has marked out an intersection between two pipes of different diameters knows how long it takes: unfolding on paper, the template wrapped around the pipe, torch cutting and then grinding until the joint closes. On a CNC pipe cutting machine, the same part comes out of a single cut, with the weld preparation already formed. For a shop that makes dozens of such joints every day, the difference is measured in hours of labour saved every shift and in welders who no longer wait for parts adjusted by hand.
Before the list below, it is worth saying what the 8 axes mean in practice: the torch can move and tilt around the pipe so that it follows any intersection curve and forms, in the same movement, the angle of the weld preparation. This is what lets a CNC pipe cutting machine replace marking out, cutting and chamfering in a single pass.
• Intersections without programming: you enter the pipe radius, the intersection angle and the other parameters, and the machine generates the contour on its own. The operator does not need CNC programming skills for standard joints.
• Round and square pipes on the same machine: intersections are cut on round pipes as well as on square and rectangular pipes, which matters in projects with complex joints between different sections.
• Plasma and oxy-fuel: plasma for 1–40 mm with piercing and 1–28 mm when bevelling, oxy-fuel for 6–60 mm on straight cuts and 6–40 mm when bevelling. You choose the process according to wall thickness.
• Bevelling up to ±55°: up to ±45° with plasma, up to ±55° with oxy-fuel. Weld preparations come directly off the machine, without separate chamfering.
• No manual grinding: the CNC control ensures accurate, clean cuts, with precise intersections for correct pipe joints, so the welder receives the part ready for tacking.
• Files directly from Tekla and CAD: the geometry from the project reaches the machine without extra unfolding, which eliminates transcription errors.
• Several operations at the same station: slots, grooves, bevels and cutting to length, all on the XF8, without moving the pipe to other machines.
• Automation for large series: the automated process reduces manual intervention, increases production speed and reduces material losses.

Plasma or oxy-fuel
Plasma cutting is the natural choice for thin and medium walls, up to 40 mm with piercing, where speed and a small heat-affected zone matter. Oxy-fuel cutting covers thick walls, 6–60 mm on straight cuts, and allows larger bevels, up to ±55°. On the XF8 you have both processes on the same machine, so you do not have to commit to a single type of order from the start.
In pressure vessels and the petrochemical industry, nozzles are welded onto the shell through intersection holes cut exactly to the curvature of the pipe. A CNC pipe cutting machine cuts both the hole in the main pipe and the profiled end of the nozzle, with the weld preparation formed. The same applies to oil pipelines and to pipe networks in industrial plants, where every joint has to close without adjustments in the field.
In shipbuilding and offshore engineering, tubular structures have K, T and Y joints between round and square sections. For shops working for shipyards and for offshore wind projects, rectangular and round pipe cutting with automatically generated intersections directly shortens structure preparation time. For steel construction structures, trusses and tubular columns, the XF8 brings the same accuracy, and the machine is also used in the automotive and aerospace industries.
The machine uses CE-certified components, in line with the requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. If you work exclusively with round pipe, compare it with the XY5 CNC machine for round pipe, and for even larger diameters, see the cutting machine for large diameter pipes.
The flow on a CNC pipe cutting machine like the XF8 is designed for the production floor, not for the programming office:
1. Entering the parameters or the file: the operator enters the pipe radius, the intersection angle and the other parameters, or imports the file directly from Tekla or CAD.
2. Choosing the process: plasma for 1–40 mm with piercing or oxy-fuel for 6–60 mm on straight cuts, depending on the pipe wall.
3. Loading the pipe: the round, square or rectangular pipe is placed on the machine, over a cutting length of 6–12 m.
4. Cutting on 8 axes: the servo motors move the torch at 10–6000 mm/min, and cutting is done at 10–2000 mm/min, with bevelling of up to ±45° with plasma or ±55° with oxy-fuel.
5. Unloading: the pipe comes out with its intersection holes, slots, grooves and weld preparations finished, without manual grinding.
Operator training is included at commissioning and covers entering parameters, importing files and choosing the process, so your team can work on its own from the very first orders. For recurring orders, the same parameters are reused without new setups, and the result stays the same regardless of the operator on shift, which makes production planning much more predictable.

Six technology directions we integrate turnkey: from plug & play IIoT sensors, to cobots, predictive maintenance, optical inspection, MES connectivity and custom industrial software.
See in real time how much each machine produces and how long it sits idle. We fit sensors on any equipment, new or old, and within a few hours you have the OEE dashboard on your phone. No complex wiring, no production downtime. The first concrete step toward digitalization, with ROI visible from the very first month.
Solve your labor shortage without tripling your costs. The cobot works safely alongside your people (palletizing, feeding the CNC, welding) while you recover the investment in 12-18 months. Prices 30-40% below European distributors, with installation and programming included from us.
Stop waiting for things to break. Our algorithms analyze sensor data and tell you exactly which part will fail and when, and we bring it to your production line before the breakdown. Zero unplanned downtime, zero contractual penalties, complete operational peace of mind.
Eliminate defects before they reach the customer. Our cameras inspect every part at speeds no operator can match, detecting sub-millimeter defects. They mount onto your existing line, with no modifications. Ideal if you produce for export and have strict quality clauses.
Connect your machines to your office, regardless of brand or age. Our gateway automatically translates the data from any machine into your ERP's format: no manual entry, no paper forms, no human error. The manager sees production live, the operator receives digital instructions.
Have a process that no off-the-shelf software can solve? We build custom industrial applications: from tailored SCADA panels and HMI interfaces, to production planning systems, lot traceability and automated reporting. The code is yours, it runs on your servers, with no monthly subscriptions or vendor lock-in.
