A gantry-type H-beam welding machine takes over the longest operation in welded beam fabrication: the fillet welds between the web and the flanges, along the whole length of the part. LAZIRON MH is a gantry machine dedicated to this work. The beam is placed in the "boat" position, and the gantry travels on rails along it and welds with the torch held on the seam by a tracking mechanism. It handles flanges of 200–800 mm and webs of up to 1800 mm, for structural steel plants that produce beams in series.
Manual or semi-automatic welding of a long beam means hours of work for a good welder, with quality that varies from one weld to the next. The MH gantry replaces this work: speed is constant, the torch follows the seam on its own, and the welder becomes an operator. The machine sits after beam assembly and before flange straightening. It is part of the range of H-beam and box girder fabrication machines.
• Welding in both directions: the arc guiding device works in both directions, so the machine welds on the way out and on the way back, with no time lost returning to the start position.
• Mechanical seam tracking: a three-axis arc guiding mechanism and floating left-right swivel tracking keep the torch aligned on the seam along the whole length of the beam.
• Stable speed, digitally displayed: the welding carriage is controlled and driven by an inverter, with constant speed and a digital display, for uniform welds.
• Integrated control: welding operations are controlled together from a single system that is simple to use and safe.
• "Boat" position for quality welds: fillet welding in the flat position, with the beam tilted, gives good penetration and a weld bead with a uniform appearance.
• Stable gantry construction: the gantry welds large H-beams steadily too, with uniform alignment throughout welding.
• Dual-side drive: the gantry is driven on both sides, so it travels straight on the rails, without tilting or jamming.
• Two gantry spans: MH4000, with a 4000 mm gauge, and MH5000, with a 5000 mm gauge, for webs of up to 1500 or 1800 mm.
For a steel construction plant, the result is easy to measure: more metres of weld per shift, with quality that does not depend on welder fatigue. In practice, the H-beam welding machine turns the longest stage of the flow into a predictable one.
| Parameter | LAZIRON MH4000 | LAZIRON MH5000 |
|---|---|---|
| Flange width | 200–800 mm | 200–800 mm |

| Rail gauge | 4000 mm | 5000 mm |

| Power | 8 kW + 2 × 63 kVA, 380 V, 50 Hz | 8 kW + 2 × 63 kVA, 380 V, 50 Hz |
The choice between models depends on beam height: the MH4000 covers webs of 200–1500 mm, and the MH5000 webs of 200–1800 mm, with a wider gantry. The flange width, 200–800 mm, is the same on both. The 18000 mm rails are supplied by the customer, and we agree on their layout together before delivery.
A practical tip when choosing: think about the beams you will be producing in a few years as well as today's orders. If your projects start to include halls with larger spans or structures with taller beams, the difference in gantry span keeps you flexible. Send us the sizes of your current beams and those you want to take on, and we will recommend the right model, without you paying for capacity you do not use.
The MH machine is used for welding H-beams in steel structures and for high-volume production of welded beams. In practice, this means columns and rafters for industrial and logistics halls, main girders for platforms and multi-storey buildings, runway beams for overhead cranes and members for support structures. Wherever a rolled H-beam does not exist in the size from the calculation, a beam welded from plate goes into the project, and the quality of the fillet weld decides how well it performs.
Steel construction plants that deliver in large series gain the most: dozens of identical steel beams, welded at the same speed and with the same torch position, come out with uniform welds. For shops subcontracting for builders in Western Europe, where welds are strictly checked, an automatic H-beam welding machine makes the difference between a delivery that is accepted and one that is sent back.
There is also the reality of the labour market. Skilled welders are hard to find and to keep, and a plant that depends on a few key people loses capacity every time one leaves. The gantry moves welding know-how into the machine settings: a trained operator keeps up the production pace, and experienced welders are kept for nodes, stiffeners and special parts, where their work really matters.
The machine is delivered with CE-certified components and with the documentation required by the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Before welding, the beam is assembled on the ZL automatic assembly machine, and after welding the flanges are corrected on the WYJ hydraulic straightening machine.
On a machine that welds in one direction only, after every weld the gantry runs back empty to the end of the beam. On long parts, the time lost on the return adds up to hours per week. The MH gantry welds in both directions: at the end of the beam, the operator repositions the part or the torch and starts the next weld straight back. The cycle on every beam drops, without increasing the welding speed and without compromising quality.
Seam tracking solves the second classic problem: long beams are never perfectly straight before welding. The three-axis guiding mechanism and floating left-right tracking compensate for these small deviations, so the torch stays on the seam from one end to the other. The operator no longer corrects the direction by hand and can supervise the process.
The third element is constant speed. In manual welding, travel speed varies from one welder to another and even from the start to the end of the same weld, and this shows in the width and height of the bead. On an H-beam welding machine with an inverter-driven carriage, the set speed stays the same along the whole length, and the digital display lets you repeat the parameters exactly on the next beam in the series. For quality control, this means comparable, documentable welds.
1. The assembled H-beam is placed in the "boat" position, under the gantry, in the area between the rails.
2. The operator positions the torch on the seam between the web and the flange and sets the carriage speed, shown on the digital display.
3. The gantry travels on the rails, with dual-side drive, and the tracking mechanism keeps the torch on the seam.
4. At the end of the beam, welding continues in the opposite direction, with no empty return.
5. Once the welds are done, the beam is unloaded and goes on to flange straightening.
Operator training is included at commissioning, given by our local team, in your language. A trained operator runs the H-beam welding machine from the integrated panel, without needing the experience of a manual welder with many years of practice.

Six technology directions we integrate turnkey: from plug & play IIoT sensors, to cobots, predictive maintenance, optical inspection, MES connectivity and custom industrial software.
See in real time how much each machine produces and how long it sits idle. We fit sensors on any equipment, new or old, and within a few hours you have the OEE dashboard on your phone. No complex wiring, no production downtime. The first concrete step toward digitalization, with ROI visible from the very first month.
Solve your labor shortage without tripling your costs. The cobot works safely alongside your people (palletizing, feeding the CNC, welding) while you recover the investment in 12-18 months. Prices 30-40% below European distributors, with installation and programming included from us.
Stop waiting for things to break. Our algorithms analyze sensor data and tell you exactly which part will fail and when, and we bring it to your production line before the breakdown. Zero unplanned downtime, zero contractual penalties, complete operational peace of mind.
Eliminate defects before they reach the customer. Our cameras inspect every part at speeds no operator can match, detecting sub-millimeter defects. They mount onto your existing line, with no modifications. Ideal if you produce for export and have strict quality clauses.
Connect your machines to your office, regardless of brand or age. Our gateway automatically translates the data from any machine into your ERP's format: no manual entry, no paper forms, no human error. The manager sees production live, the operator receives digital instructions.
Have a process that no off-the-shelf software can solve? We build custom industrial applications: from tailored SCADA panels and HMI interfaces, to production planning systems, lot traceability and automated reporting. The code is yours, it runs on your servers, with no monthly subscriptions or vendor lock-in.
