LAZIRON HG is a robotic system with two flame (oxy-fuel) cutting heads that can work simultaneously. It is aimed at shipyards, builders of offshore structures and plants that produce very large tubular members.
At these sizes, the classic approach means marking out on the pipe, manual torch cutting and many hours of crane handling. The HG robot takes over this stage and does it automatically, with minimal operator intervention: the intelligent control and the sensors guide the heads, and the two workstations shorten the time spent on each pipe. It sits at the start of the flow, before assembly and welding. It is part of the range of CNC cutting machines for large pipes.
• Two heads, simultaneous work: operations are carried out in parallel, so working time on each pipe drops, and projects with hundreds of sections are finished sooner.
• Oxy-fuel cutting on thick walls: flame cutting pierces and cuts thicknesses of 6–80 mm, suitable for the thick shells used in offshore structures.
• Bevelling up to ±65°: the weld preparation is made directly during cutting, without later grinding on parts that would otherwise need days of manual finishing.
• Pipe intersections with complex geometry: the profiled ends for the nodes of tubular structures are cut automatically, with a correct fit at assembly.
• Accuracy of ±5 mm over 40 m: the section length is held along the whole part, which matters when erecting structures where deviations add up.
• Built for the offshore environment: the system is designed to operate reliably under exposure to salt water and strong wind.
• More safety, less labour: automated cutting keeps people away from the flame and the heavy parts and reduces material losses.
For a yard that works pipes of this size, every hour of crane time and every section that has to be redone costs a lot. The HG robot turns cutting from a team operation, with a marker, a cutter and a grinder, into a process run by a single operator, repeatable from one part to the next.
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Model | LAZIRON HG |
| Round pipe diameter | 1700–2800 mm |
| Cutting length | 9–40 m |
| Cutting method | Flame |
| Pierce cutting thickness | 6–80 mm |
| Cutting speed | 10–700 mm/min |
| Travel speed | 10–6000 mm/min |
| Cutting length accuracy | ±5 mm (over 40 m) |
| Bevel cutting | ≤±65° |
| Maximum part weight | 120000 kg |
The cutting speed of 10–700 mm/min covers the whole range of thicknesses, from a thin 6 mm wall up to 80 mm, and the travel speed of 10–6000 mm/min shortens repositioning of the heads between cuts. All values are confirmed in the technical quote, for the chosen configuration.
That is why on the HG the part stays still, and the cutting system moves around and along it, with length accuracy maintained over the entire travel.
The HG robot is designed for the construction, maintenance and decommissioning of offshore structures: platforms, jacket legs, tubular nodes and large diameter pipe sections with complex joints. In shipbuilding, the same large diameter pipe cutting robot prepares heavy tubular members for ships and marine structures, with the weld preparation bevelled directly during cutting.
Decommissioning offshore structures raises a different problem: old, heavy sections that have to be cut in a controlled and safe way for transport and recycling. Here it matters that cutting is automated, with people at a distance from the part, and that the two heads share the work on the same pipe. Maintenance of offshore installations, in turn, requires replacement sections cut to size and bevelled for welding.
Foundations for offshore wind turbines use very large diameter pipes and nodes with intersections, exactly the type of part the HG was built for. For a plant that wants to enter the supply chain for wind farms or energy infrastructure, the ability to cut pipes of up to 2800 mm and 40 m in its own hall is a concrete argument with the end customer.
The machine is delivered with CE-certified components and with the documentation required by the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. If you work with smaller pipes, of 108–2000 mm and 6–12 m, with plasma or flame, see the XG CNC machine for pipe intersections.
An ordinary articulated industrial robot cannot reach around a 2800 mm pipe and does not cover a length of 40 m. The HG is built the other way round: the part stays in place, and the robotic system travels along it, with two heads cutting in parallel. The result is a workstation dedicated to huge parts, which does not block the rest of the hall.
The intelligent control and the sensors make the difference compared with a simple cutting carriage: the heads are guided automatically on the pipe, with minimal intervention. The operator no longer corrects the flame path by hand over a circumference of several metres, and cut quality no longer depends on fatigue at the end of the shift.
Compared with manual torch cutting, the difference shows in three places: length accuracy (±5 mm over 40 m), the quality of the weld bevel and the safety of people, who no longer work on or next to parts weighing tens of tonnes during cutting. For projects with tight deadlines, the second cutting head effectively means two cutting stations in a single installation.
1. The operator loads the part program: lengths, intersections, holes and bevel angles.
2. The control system and the sensors position the two cutting heads on the pipe.
3. The heads cut with a flame (oxy-fuel), simultaneously, thicknesses of 6–80 mm, with bevelling of up to ±65°.
4. The robot travels along the pipe, up to 40 m, and holds the section length to within ±5 mm.
5. The finished sections are unloaded ready for assembly and welding.
The operator supervises the process and steps in only for loading and for checking the parts. Training is included at commissioning, given by our local team, in your language.
Before delivery we agree together on the location of the workstation, the crane loading route, the gas supply for the flame and access along the whole 40 m length. This way the robot goes into production without last-minute changes in the hall, and the first project starts with a flow that has already been thought through.

Six technology directions we integrate turnkey: from plug & play IIoT sensors, to cobots, predictive maintenance, optical inspection, MES connectivity and custom industrial software.
See in real time how much each machine produces and how long it sits idle. We fit sensors on any equipment, new or old, and within a few hours you have the OEE dashboard on your phone. No complex wiring, no production downtime. The first concrete step toward digitalization, with ROI visible from the very first month.
Solve your labor shortage without tripling your costs. The cobot works safely alongside your people (palletizing, feeding the CNC, welding) while you recover the investment in 12-18 months. Prices 30-40% below European distributors, with installation and programming included from us.
Stop waiting for things to break. Our algorithms analyze sensor data and tell you exactly which part will fail and when, and we bring it to your production line before the breakdown. Zero unplanned downtime, zero contractual penalties, complete operational peace of mind.
Eliminate defects before they reach the customer. Our cameras inspect every part at speeds no operator can match, detecting sub-millimeter defects. They mount onto your existing line, with no modifications. Ideal if you produce for export and have strict quality clauses.
Connect your machines to your office, regardless of brand or age. Our gateway automatically translates the data from any machine into your ERP's format: no manual entry, no paper forms, no human error. The manager sees production live, the operator receives digital instructions.
Have a process that no off-the-shelf software can solve? We build custom industrial applications: from tailored SCADA panels and HMI interfaces, to production planning systems, lot traceability and automated reporting. The code is yours, it runs on your servers, with no monthly subscriptions or vendor lock-in.
