The beam size is given by the web height, for example IPE 160 or IPE 200. We confirm series and length in the quote, to the standard.
• An I beam has a tall web and two flanges that take the bending.
• In standard and light I beams, the flanges taper from the web towards the edges.
• Galvanised I beams are protected against corrosion, and stainless ones are sand blasted and pickled.
IPE has narrow flanges and works mainly as a beam, in bending. HEA and HEB have wide flanges and also work as columns.
