The engineer who stays in the plant until the machine runs at spec. Automation, mechatronics and PLC work on commissioning, integration into the client’s production flow and on-site service.
Cosmin Florea is an Automation and Mechatronics engineer on the Uzinex team. He does not work with equipment on paper: he sizes the technical solution together with the client, integrates it into the existing production line, commissions it and stays there until the people in the plant can run it without him.
At CAMMA, where Uzinex delivered a modular brick factory, Cosmin owned the mechatronics engineering, the automation and the PLCs. From first contact to the moment the line was producing consistently at design parameters, about three months passed, and operator training ran in parallel with commissioning, not after it. At the wrought iron workshop in Limanu he handled commissioning on every machine and trained the team, and the workshop went into production as soon as the last machine was calibrated.
On the service side, he is the person you call when you need fast diagnostics, on-site intervention or advanced parameter setting on CNC, laser and cobotics equipment, including machines delivered long ago. A stopped machine costs money every hour, and his job is to shorten exactly that interval.
He also works in the company’s internal research. In Hortus, the controlled growing system developed by Uzinex, he is responsible for hardware execution: sensors, actuators, electrical integration and the fail-safes on the control loop. He does not simply install automation systems, he designs them from the ground up, with everything safety means when a process has to run unattended.
His expertise is recognised outside the company as well. In May 2026 he was invited on TLM Regional, in the show “Invitatul Știrilor Regionale”, to explain in plain language how lithium-ion batteries are recycled: the technological stages, the thermal risk, the safety requirements and the role of automation in a process where mistakes are unforgiving.
