Uzinex CTO, mechanical engineer with almost four decades in industry. He has spent 30 years building direct commercial relationships with manufacturers in China and decides which technology enters the Uzinex portfolio and how it is integrated into clients’ plants.
Cristian Munthiu is CTO of Uzinex. A graduate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Politehnica Cluj-Napoca, class of 1987, he began his engineering career at the Dacia plant, where he learned the discipline of series production. Today he sets the technology direction of the company: which equipment enters the portfolio, how it is sized for the space and the flow of each client, and which configuration holds up in real production, not only on paper.
Born in Toplița and settled in Bistrița, after 1994 he built several businesses of his own, from advertising and event organisation to one of the first online newspapers in Bistrița, and he ran commercial operations for long-established Romanian companies. Entrepreneurship taught him what matters to an owner: the real total cost of an investment, not just the price on the quote.
For 30 years he has been building commercial relationships with manufacturers in China, at plant level and at official representation level. Those relationships went past the strictly commercial and into the diplomatic: he is the only Romanian entrepreneur the ambassador of China came to visit at the headquarters of his own company. Hundreds of business meetings, trade fairs and international exhibitions, from the United States to Asia, sit behind that network.
For Uzinex clients this turns into concrete advantages: direct access to manufacturers, technical verification at source before the order is placed, terms negotiated person to person, and equipment chosen for what it has to do in the plant, not for how well it photographs in a catalogue.
“In China the contract is signed after trust has been built. I spent 30 years building it, and our clients draw on it from their first order.
