A small diesel generator follows a simple sequence from grid failure to restoration:
1. The mains sensor detects loss of supply or a voltage deviation in the public grid.
2. The ATS automation panel commands the diesel engine to start and disconnects the mains.
3. The generator reaches rated speed and the alternator delivers stable voltage.
4. Within a few seconds of the outage, the ATS transfers the load to the generator without human intervention.
5. When mains power returns, the system transfers the loads back and stops the engine after the cool-down period.
6. The controller monitors operating parameters and shuts the set down on protection events, signalling alarms.
When should I choose a small three-phase diesel generator instead of a single-phase one?
