Width is slit to order. Common spring strip sizes are 60 × 1.6 mm or 50 × 1.0 mm.
• Stainless steel strip comes in grades from 201 to 2507 and in finishes from matt 2B to 8K mirror.
• Carbon spring steel strip is cold rolled, then annealed or hardened and tempered.
• Galvanised strip is hot dip coated with zinc, in an even layer that protects it from corrosion.
Hardened and tempered strip is ready to use, for flat springs, band saw blades, scrapers and knives that do not need severe bending.
Cold rolled annealed strip bends and forms easily, then it is hardened. It is used for springs, washers, spacers, clips and car parts.
• Spring steel strip, for roller shutter springs, saw blades, steel packing strap, clips and wiper blades.
• 316L stainless steel strip, for paper mill equipment, heat exchangers, textile dyeing machines and building facades in coastal areas.
• Galvanised strip, for welded pipes, cold formed sections, bicycle frames, clamps and hardware.
The part decides the material. For springs you take spring steel, for wet or corrosive settings stainless steel strip, and for protected steel parts galvanised strip.
