• Cold rolled steel coil, such as DC01, SPCC, SPCE or Q195, is 0.12–3 mm thick with a smooth surface that takes paint well.
• Hot rolled steel coil, such as S235JR, SS400 or A36, is structural steel, thicker, up to 12 mm.
For deep parts, drawing grades from DC01 to DC06 are used. The car industry also uses IF steels and high strength steels.
Steel coil is used in the car industry, home appliances, construction, machines, decorative parts and food cans.
The process decides grade and quality. For deep drawing you take a cold rolled drawing grade, and for structures a hot rolled structural grade.
