Steel flat bar has a rectangular section and a slightly rounded edge. It is used as a finished product or as a semi-finished one.
• As a finished product, flat bar is used for hoops, tools and machine parts.
• In construction it goes into frames and house structures.
• As a semi-finished product, it is used for welded pipe and thin sheet.
• Square bar steel is used for machined parts and structural elements.
The use decides the type. Machined parts usually take cold drawn or peeled bar, while structures work with black hot rolled flat bar.
