Metal Weight Calculator
Calculate instantly the theoretical weight for sheet metal, flat bar, round bar, tubes and angles, in 10 common materials: carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, copper, brass, bronze, cast iron, titanium and zinc. Enter the dimensions and get the kilograms per piece and total, plus estimated cost if you add the price per kilogram.
Fill in the dimensions to calculate.
Theoretical weight at nominal density. Rolling tolerances per EN standard may yield ±3…5% difference from scale.
The same calculator on your phone, even offline
The weight calculation works the same way in the Android app, together with the press brake flat pattern, time and cost estimates for laser cutting, and building a quote price. All calculations run on the phone, so it works in a hall with no signal, in the warehouse or at the customer's site.
No account, no ads, no permissions, and no data collection. Your prices per kilogram and machine costs are saved locally and are there every time you open the app.

The weight of any metal semi-finished product comes from volume multiplied by material density: mass (kg) = volume (m³) × density (kg/m³). For linear profiles, volume is the cross-sectional area multiplied by length. The calculator applies standard formulas for each shape: for plate, length × width × thickness; for round bar, the area of a circle π·d²/4; for round tube, the difference between outer and inner area; for rectangular tube, the difference between outer and inner rectangle; for angle, thickness multiplied by the sum of both legs minus thickness.
The result is theoretical weight at nominal dimensions. Real laminates have thickness and form tolerances per EN 10029, EN 10051, or EN 10219, so differences of a few percent from the scale are normal and do not indicate a material issue.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does one square meter of 1 mm steel plate weigh?
7.85 kg at the nominal density of 7850 kg/m³. Quick shop rule: weight per square meter in kg is 7.85 times the thickness in millimeters.
Why does calculated weight differ from the scale?
Because laminates have thickness and form tolerances. The calculation uses nominal dimensions, so ±3…5% difference is normal.
What density is used for stainless?
7930 kg/m³ for 304 and 7980 kg/m³ for 316, both slightly over carbon steel at 7850 kg/m³.
