The UZX-HW-230YY is the deepest of the small skid-mounted rigs: it drills down to 230 m, starting at 500 mm in soil or 220 mm in rock and ending at 75 mm. It works with direct circulation, a down-the-hole (DTH) hammer or an auger, so it suits soil, gravel and rock.
It weighs 950 kg at 2700 × 900 × 1500 mm and has a 15 kW engine, a 145 L/min mud pump at 2 MPa and a 2500 kg winch. The feed is hydraulic and automatic, and the engine is matched to the hydraulics, which cuts fuel consumption by about 7%.

The rig drills rotary, with mud circulation. The vertical-spindle rotary head turns the rod string and the bit, the hydraulic feed pushes it into the ground, and the pump sends mud through the rods down to the bit. The mud cools the bit, holds up the hole walls and brings the cuttings to the surface. The hole starts wide and narrows towards the bottom, then the well is fitted with casing and a screen at the aquifer.
The automatic hydraulic feed raises drilling speed and reduces operator effort.
The engine is matched to the hydraulic system, with about 7% lower fuel consumption.

The first criterion is depth. The UZX-HW-160YY reaches 160 m, the UZX-HW-190L 190 m and the UZX-HW-230YY 230 m. The second is the site: the skid models, at 850 and 950 kg, fit into narrow yards, while the crawler UZX-HW-190L reaches rough ground by itself. For wells in rock or deeper than 230 m, choose the UZX-HQZ pneumatic rigs.
