The UZX-HW-936 is a hydraulic crawler drill with a down-the-hole (DTH) hammer and a built-in compressor, made for 90–115 mm blast holes in hard strata. The 162 kW Cummins diesel engine also drives the 16 m³/min, 16 bar compressor.
The high air pressure gives the hammer plenty of energy in hard rock. The rig has a dry dust collector and a rod changer, and the feed is driven by a hydraulic motor with chain.

The rig works with a down-the-hole (DTH) hammer: the pneumatic hammer goes down the hole with the bit and strikes the rock directly, so the drilling speed stays almost the same at depth. The compressor is mounted on the rig itself and driven by the same diesel engine, so no separate air unit is needed. The rotation head turns the string, the feed pushes it into the rock, and the air carries the cuttings to the dust collector.

The dry dust collector reduces pollution, and the rod changer makes changing rods fast and convenient.
It is built for hard strata: limestone, dolomite and aggregate quarries and open-pit metal mines.

The first criterion is the hole diameter. For 65–130 mm holes, the UZX-HW-920, UZX-HW-935, UZX-HW-936 and UZX-HW-421T fit, and for 110–165 mm the UZX-HW-925 and UZX-HW-930. The second criterion is air. The separated rigs (UZX-HW-920, 925, 930) need an external compressor and are lighter. The integrated ones (UZX-HW-935, 936, 938, 421T, 452H) carry the compressor on board and work on their own in the quarry. The third criterion is the site. Underground, the UZX-HW-UP45 is used, and for tunnels and rock bolting the UZX-HW-UJ33 jumbo.
